vibrant artistic community and many year round outdoor activities.
Edge of Reality™ is currently looking for talented individuals with a
passion for games to join our highly creative art department. ALL candidates
must have a well-developed raw artistic talent, a traditional art background,
and a shown proficiency with 3D-computer graphics development using any
one of, or combination of, the following packages: Photoshop, Painter,
Deep Paint3D, And at least ONE 3D graphics Package (Maya preferred).
Edge of Reality is searching for a special effects artist to join its highly creative art staff. Candidates must be driven to create jaw dropping special effects to entertain the gaming masses, and will be also responsible for the R&D of software, production pipelines, and post processes that are determined appropriate for a specific project as well as "advancing the state of the art."
REQUIREMENTS:
Expert-level skills in 3D graphics, particle systems, shaders (specular and normal maps), rigid body collision, soft body, cloth, hair, and fur simulations and relevant commercial software applications (Maya Preferred) to create special effects that further the game experience to simulate flashes, explosions, rain, moving water, fire, smoke, etc.
3 years or more production experience with special effects, post-production, and problem solving. Having shipped at least one game
Excellent attention to detail, self-initiative and follow-through
Photoshop skills required
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work well under pressure
Ability to work well as part of a team
Strong traditional art/animation skills
Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills
Strong work ethic, self-direction and artistic vision, dedication to the craft, and to the studio
Work closely with the Studio Art Director and Lead Concept Artist to define the artistic goals for a game
Assist the Senior Management Team in the creation and overall management of the art schedule
Responsible for establishing the art production pipeline and enforcing the process throughout the project cycle
Working with Producer to adjust project goals and design revisions on the fly as necessary to adapt to changing situations to meet established schedules
Supporting the Producer to keep studio executive staff, the publisher and/or marketing staff up to speed on product status and vision through the preparation and presentation of appropriate project materials (e.g., milestone updates, demos, etc)
Work with the sub-leads on the team on a daily basis to effectively manage art direction, modeling, texturing, lighting, SFX, data optimization and debugging to meet the aesthetic, stylistic, and technical quality bar
Ensure that artists on the team have reasonable schedules, clearly defined tasks, all of the tools necessary to do their job, and sensible file structures and naming conventions
Detect significant problems and find the best “artistic/technical/organizational” compromise in collaboration with the lead artist and other team leads
Take part in the development of new graphic techniques and the integration of the graphical content in the engine
Communicate actively to the team the artistic vision while taking the best output from the team to improve that vision
Lead and motivate the art team to realize overall goals and deliver a successful project on budget and on time
In partnership with Producer, help settle project-related conflicts and disputes, and counsel artists according to HR policies
Mentor and serve as a technical and creative resource for the team, assisting in the resolution of complex problems, and helping them grow in their roles
Assist in the recruiting, hiring, mentoring and preparing performance reviews of artists
Collaborate with the Studio Management Team and HR to assemble a AAA Art Team
QUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years experience within the game industry
3+ published games credited as an artist
At least two AAA published game credited in a Art Lead or Director in a development role
Proven leadership and management skills
Understands game production design process and methodology
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems efficiently
Effective communication with peers, development staff and senior management
Ability to work under pressure and balance the impacts of deadlines and resources with the style and quality requirements of a project
Strong time management skills with a proven ability to focus on multiple priorities and juggle multiple tasks and deadlines
Ability to work cooperatively on a team spanning artists, programmers and designers, and to compromise when necessary to achieve overall best results
Ability to mentor and train the art staff
Intimate knowledge of game development process from concept, pre-production, production, post-production to final product release
Able to draft an Art/Tech Art documents and execute on it
Demonstrable excellence as an artist (anatomy, graphic design, animation, architecture)
Know platforms and engine limits, maximize quality and manage risks
In depth knowledge of the graphical aspects involved in game development (modeling, environment art, special effects, lighting, texturing, etc). Should be an expert in at least one of these areas
Knowledge of industry standard 2D and 3D (maya preferred) DCC applications
Next generation console experience
Experience with Art Outsourcing
B.A. or equivalent degree

Edge of Reality is currently looking for talented hard working programmers who want to be part of something great. We are working on our next generation engine which will be the basis for all our PS3 and Xbox 360 games.
Evaluate graphics needs for the project; work with the project lead to write technical documentation, create programming tasks, and identify risk areas
Provide leadership and direction to subordinates
Communicate status updates to producers and publishers
Develop, maintain, optimize, and extend rendering code and shaders
Optimize graphics performance to meet frame-rate goals
Work closely with artists and tech artists to implement and improve in-game rendering
REQUIREMENTS:
6 years professional game programming experience, with 2+ years console graphics experience
Pixel/Vertex shader experience (HLSL, Cg)
Knowledge of GPU hardware implementation, shader programming, and optimization techniques
Excellent communication skills
Xbox 360 or PS3 graphics programming experience in one shipped title or soon to be shipping title
Fluent in C/C++
Very strong math and computer graphics background (lighting, animation, skinning, rendering, rasterization, etc.)
Responsible for the overall project timeline, project staffing plans, and iteration on high level milestone docs with the publisher
Provide an interface for communication between the publisher, the development team, and executive management
Manage Production Assistants to facilitate communication and support the development team
Set up the localization and Quality Assurance workflow
Work with various Project Leads to create task lists and make sure the project is on schedule, maintaining the pipeline and tracking the delivery of assets by the team
Enter tasks into MS Project, track tasks due for milestones, identify dependency problems, and create contingency plans when needed
Oversee the delivery of builds to the publisher
Take instruction and accept responsibilities delegated to him/her by executive management
Assist executive management in company growth as it relates to scheduling/organization
Participate in reviews for all projects assigned to them, to help ensure timely, high quality products
Troubleshoot problems which effect the completion of their projects
Assisting executive management in the evaluation of team members under him/her
Inform the Director staff if a team member is not meeting quality, professionalism, or performance expectations
REQUIREMENTS:
